I'm just starting to learn how to dj, and as nice as it is to play vinyl my collection is still fairly limited (mabey 50 records) so I've decided to go and get time coded vinyl so I can play my much more vast digital collection. I've basically narrowed it down to whatever the latest versions are of Serato Scratch Live and Tracktor Scratch Pro, and was just wondering what people here thought of the two and which (in their opinions of course) is better. I'm also open to suggestions of other companies, but would like to hear about those two first and foremost. Thanks in advance.

depends on what you want to do with it. both are good for just straight mixing, traktor you can do more with controllerism but you have to preplan quiet a bit. both sound almost exactly the same, unless you slow the record all the way down you can hear a slight digital tare in serato.

I prefer the way tracks play on traktor (left to right) instead of serato (up and down). I have started using it a lot more since I bought a Z2. makes switching over to scratch so much easier...still need to figure out time coding endless loops for making my own scratch records.

one thing serato has going for it is it has a lot more different digital vinyls. traktor had glow in the dark limited ones but they were the mrk 1's =/
