I've been rather stuck for the past few weeks and It's been frustrating me to no end. I've started quite a few projects in the process but this is the one I'm focusing on at the moment: http://soundcloud.com/12v/azalea-wip

Does anyone have any advice on where I can go with this one? I'm hoping that some creative suggestions will be enough to jolt my brain.

i would say draw inspiration from other kinds of music. listen to... anything else, listen to something non-electronic. stimulate a different part of your brain, then go back to it!

The intro was inspired by Firefly - Check This Out, actually. :P Although I guess that's more technical than musical inspiration.

Thanks for the advice.

maybe you should scrap this one and start yet another one. Seriously. I've too sketched enough to know sometimes you just have to keep doing it. eventually you'll feel inspired by something deep inside. For me it usually progresses from there.

After that you could add some sort of bleepy noises or piano sounds an some gated synth, Breakdown starts an then you could have some rushy freeform riffs and acids..

you could look at the track a different way, maybe treat it like a soundtrack if... you have a story in your head

running will give you an idea for an 8 bar piece of music, walking will, swimming etc... mixed with places, ie: space travel will sound different to a fantasy world etc...

just try looking at the tune a different way & work towards it, rather than creating for the sake of it.

more thought into sounds will come from this way of thinking & i expect more people will feel the tunes story.

Allow an easement (an easement is an abandonment of a stricture).
