try 'fatsyn'
it has a hardcore bass preset
it's a free vst but the preset will need some tweaking & some effects

i added a sine layer & a bit crusher if i remember rightly

All synths are equally good for UK Hardcore. The synths don't know what genre you make so won't be limiting you.

^Couldn't agree more.

I'd recommend any decent virtual analog synth for basslines. Analog synths tend to be the best for fat, thick bass sounds.

Layer lots.
I can;t stand raw synth basslines. Sawtooth basslines are too sharp for my liking. Layer a VEc sample with a V-Station bassline with maybe a donk and you have quite a defined bassline. Obviously don't make the donk loud enough to make it a 'donk bassline'. Just put it on top quietly to smoothen the sound and give it a bit of depth. I do that for all my basslines. Various synths, various samples, various donks and you always get a nice sounding and different bassline. For me, there's no single synth that can give you as warm-a-sound.

Lol, but what makes you think layering is the solution? Filtering is the solution in that case!

Anything goes, synthwise. Even Fruity's 3x Osc can be a badboy.

The only layering I would do personally, would be to have the sub in a separate layer, then you can do whatever you want with the mid layer (distort, filter, flange, etc) and still have a nice clean sub. Dada Life's Sausage Fattener is a pretty cool and simple effect plugin that works well on bass sounds in particular (imo), but you can also use it to tighten up some drums and percussion.

I actually like the filter on the FL sampler, which i think is probably the same as on the 3xOsc.

Yeah, the only difference between the sampler and 3x osc is the 'Plugin' tab in the instrument box.

Not really, you have the same oscillation, you just chop off the high end to it. It adds a bit of warmth and focuses it in the low end a little, but its not necessarily more smooth
And what makes me think it is years of producing and experience how to make basslines for myself.

I usually make mine in V-station and slap on a Camelphat 3 for warmth, power and distortion. Sometimes layer it with a Sylenth1 bass - whatever sounds good with the V-station one I made.

Yeah, I would say Massive is a very good synth for hardcore basslines, at least if you want a gritty sound. Scream filter + distortion (either internal or external) can make almost any waveform sound like a serial killer.
