Looking for a good sound card suitable for productions and engineering. Dont want to spend more than 50, really... I'm not particularly sure what I'm looking for. Guidance would be much appreciated :)

Dunno for that sort of price! I'm really happy with my Saffire 6 but it's more than that...

What do you think of these?:

Is this even a Soundcard?

As those external soundcards can take up to 96kHz, I can tell my intergrated Relatek HD is twice better. What are other qualities I should look at? How do I know I'm buying something better for my music production?

No good unfortuantely, may as well stick with what's in your PC tbh. Really you'll need over 100 to get something worthwhile, otherwise I'd just save your cash tbh.

You might want to consider precisely what it is you want to do with it. If it's to record live instruments, or the occasional vocal sample you should consider something with xlr inputs/mic pre's. This one might be worth looking into (e-mu is creative labs line of studio grade equipment):

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-E-MU-8740A-Audio-Interface/dp/B004GJXTQS/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1333587461&sr=1-2

I myself own an e-mu 1212m pci card for my studio pc. I would recommend it or the e-mu 404, if it's mainly for monitoring. The only drawback is that you'll need an external mixer to handle the monitor and headphone levels which is why, considering the budget, I would go for the one in the link.
