Came across this pretty interesting documentary on Donk. To be honest donk sounds like the really shit old skool, but that's just me. None the less it's a pretty interesting doc. http://www.vice.com/music-world/donk

It turned very dark quickly, every one is getting out of jail recently or playing at 15yo girls birthday partys, crackheads and slums

looks like Poole in Dorset except less 'Dordey, Mursh' and more 'Put a bangin Donk on it, lark'
we have the same crowds and the same 'show offs' but instad of donk we have Clubland, HTID, Raverbaby ect in our rave scene but a growing emergence of Dubstep & DnB alwa strong. This is from 3 years ago, are Blackout Crew still active & has Wigan Peir not been bitten by the Dubstep bug yet and is Burnley really that bad?

By the same crowds do you mean all the Hardcore raves in your area are full of chavs on steroids and kids that look like their stuck in the 90's? Well both Bolton and Burnley looked like depressing undeveloped shitholes and seeing the economy hasn't really gotten any better in the pas three years so I'd imagine both places are in the same condition or worse.
Both Bolton and Burnley both looked like they were stuck in the 90's with their awful music and horrible choice of clothes so I think Dubstep is to technical for them. This is just my guess but one of the promoters in the vid said that when they tried to spread Donk in Cardiff and Swansea nobody was into to because they like more complex music.

Steroids not a big thing down here (get the pun [@;) ) but the lads with arms round each other and girls in the bed clothes and glow sticks the thing at all big events. Dubstep has taken over a bit but there is still alot of HTID. Seems to be the thing down south, Poole, Bournemouth, Southampton, Pompey ect its mainstrem UK Hardcore (Softcore) and some Old Skool 'fans' such as myself and those who where lucky to rave back then.
I have been to raves where Mum's have gone with their own kids to raves, the mums from the earlier rave generation . Everyone likes their pills at the raves but MDMA getting more popular as pure. Meth was big about two years ago but got a bad reputation.
Places like Burnley have always been grim, no work about so it gets harder under the current finantial situation but we do have some of that here too. Boardered up shops and kids who spend all their JSA on drink and drugs.
From what I gather places like Cardiff & Swansea have similar rave scene to South England but I guess North Wales might be more in tune to Northan England?
And finally what happened to the Blackout Crew, nothing new since 2009, have the kids gone off them already or are they too 'old' to still be in the scene which seems to attract a younger crowd and younger MCs.

Remove connotations and donk is great... Big fan of the music itself, but I'm scared of making it due to the fact that it's crowd is a bunch of meathead twats that will start a fight whenever possible, don't bother hiding the fact that they're pilled up and gurning to shite in front of a camera, where family could see it (not that they'd care). I understand they're living their life and shit, but at least live it with some class, same applies to your doped up mum doping up at home, sponging off benefits and 'looking after' your kid.
Long story short, love the music itself, hate the followers.
Btw... I'm fully aware that hardcore has a similar following, which is unfortunate. But at least there's SOME normal / classy hardcore ravers..

well there 30 mins i wont get back :(
what was mentioned of cardiff and swansea is pratically true thought, can't walk down a street somewhere without this stuff playing out of someones tuned up vw golf, makes me cringe like mad. not a joke but this is the sort of crap i have to put up with in my works when we host dance acadamy shows, just a load of 11+ kids running around screaming their heads off on j2o and coke (the drink before you start;))
