Is/Was Dub'n'bass a real genre? I remember seeing it listed under an electronic guide (perhaps the one named Ishkur from Digitally Imported?) and also thefurnace from an old geocities hosting website. If it does exist , could it be a precusor to the famous "Dubstep" style?

Can you's have a listen to this tune and tell me if it could be dub'n'bass?

AFAIK the evolutionary tree of drumstep was close to this: garage -> mutant spiderpig -> dubstep -> humans -> brostep -> Denver -> drumstep

Give or take.

As far as the tune it sounds like drum and bass with Bit'o'Ragga. Nothing special :P I don't think you found a missing link lol.

Not a fan, btw. I can take drumstep in small doses. But not a dubstep fan.

OH, and hardcore techno had the whole 'crazy subgenre names' thing going way before dubstep ever belched its first Skrittlez.

That is Drum n Bass, and yes, that is a genre, evolved from Jungle.

Dubstep originated from Grime and Garage and has almost nothing from Drum n Bass, maybe some bassline influences, but those from dnb were also available in Garage.

Hey v-act' , are you saying Dub-n-bass is a genre of its own right? no-one has really answered my question. and where does the 2step influence come into dubstep? if any?

Yep, it's a genre of it's own. And I believe the 2step influence came from Grime.
