I noticed pics on twitter an facebook of studios with notepads on the table. Might sound a bad question but do anyone here write stuff down on paper and if so what do you write.
I used to draw on square paper melodie notes each square represented a note but i dont do it no more.

I write down ideas, reminders, sometimes plan out what I'm adding where etc.. Often if I notice a small detail that needs some work but I'm in the middle or something else I'll forget about it if I don't write it down. I also take the notebook with me if I'm listening in the car or on a different system in the house so I can make notes.

What to make notes of ideas in the car.
Seems like a good idea i have to shoot to the pc when i get an idea and then im up there for hours.

I also hum melodies into the voice recorder on my phone. :P

I never wrote down something when it comes to music production, except for a reminder or anything related to that.
When I've got an idea, my laptop has to be somewhere around me so I can write it down. I try to do more stuff on FL Studio for the iPhone as well, but it's piano roll isn't as comfortable as the one on the PC.
But yeah, do whatever you like.

And since I couldn't write piano sheets, I made a FL Studio-sheet with squares and put down the notes on the spots I thought they used to be. Couldn't find a Play-button, though.

Id do that to if I knew exactly what each note sounds like. I usually get inspirations in school out of boredom, but they vanish til I get home. >.>
