I got asked by a semi-professional aussie hip hop artist i know to have a go at making some music for him.
Never produced hip hop before and he asked for something more "emotional" than a thug lyf track. So i've tried to use soft instruments and more musical than the typical hip hop track.
But if anyone interested can take a listen and give feedback it'd be GREATLY appreciated. It's all basic samples at the moment because it's a draft but it'll all sound better mixed properly and that. Anyway i'm rambling now.

Will check it out when I get in man. Used to listen to people like Common, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, D.I.T.C. etc. back in the day, don't listen to much new stuff though. It's not that I don't still like it mind, just struggle to find the time to listen to everything!

I used to MC to hip hop before I start MC'ing to hardcore, and I never knew what I was looking for until I discovered soundclick & it's instrumental producers. If you're really serious about getting started in Hip Hop producing, I suggest you check out the following beat makers.
VTZ, Anno Domini, Sinima Beats, MR KA Beats, Rapitfly
They can all be found @ soundclick .com
The first 3 suggested are my personal favourites.

Nice track dude! Sounds pretty good to me.
Drums and bass seem to be pop-ish, but I guess its OK if they were suppose to be. And I found it crosses distortion limit up to 5.6dB during playback. Other than that, it's good!
I used to be into HipHop and mainstream stuff. Some badass gangsta stuff were there, but it was mostly commercial. I always found commercial bitch-ass-money hiphop funny so i liked it too. Anyway, Eminem is the man!

not a fan of it myself but I dont mind the older stuff when it was more about beats and rythems rather than the 'Thugz' and 'Streetz'

You must be thinking of 'Hilltop Hoods' they are quite good with their debut track' High Road'. otherwise you could be thinking of Justice crew
