it does sound familiar to a tune i've heard, but not too much to make it a cover/remix, so i'd say it has more originiality to it

That can be applied to so many songs though, if you really try.
Sounds original enough. Who cares anyway, once it's in the context of the entire song it's not going to be remotely like anything else even if the melody alone is.

I would be more concerned over whether it "sounds" like someone elses track, as in instruments used - rather than whether the melody is the same.

The context was what worried me, excluding instruments. More precisely, of all this I was most worried about the pad.
