A friend of mine and eufeion posted it on facebook, i agree with it as well.
however, im still going to call my self a dj, not a turntablist but a dj. the one he doesn't mention is radio dj's who don't mix but talk. where do they fit in, radiohost/dj people

I agree with most of what he said, although the David Guetta you-tube video that inspired his rant has nothing to do with what format djs use, it's to do with djs miming and using pre-recorded mixes. Which, is lame and there is no excuse or defence for.

agree with most of what he said except I still prefer vinyl. why? because I can actually scratch on it...well I could scratch on cds too =P but I have a hell of a time trying to use my friends s2, yeah it can be done but it's a pain. I have largish hands and trying to juggle on those is tough.

this is why I bought scratch pro 2 so I can do both turntablism as well as controllerism (can't wait for the x2!).

but he's definitely right about if you're playing out. most party goers don't give a rats ass if you're using records, a laptop, or pancakes. I personally do but I'm a small percentage =P

Said that i m not a dj, i just like sometimes to have fun mixin my fav tracks at home with technics 1200 or my cdj...I m agree with him...u can mix with any media u prefer, the important thing is that people who are listenin to u are having fun....but i also can understand how "frustrating" can be for a vinyl dj that has spended a lot of time improving his mixing skills, searching for and purchasing vinyl etc see that today everyone now can do it easly downloadin some mp3 and mixing with auto-pitch and so on...

I agree too, the anti-controller argument normally boils down to: "it means anyone can be a DJ". Good, more DJs the better, I love hearing what people can do behind the decks and putting their unique twist on mixing.

Vinyl is fun and watching someone play a brilliant vinyl set in front of you is ethereal, maybe I'm just used to hearing people constantly trainwreck on vinyl but when I see someone do it properly it's like watching sorcery, especially when the crowd is eating it up and going nuts.

I'm a huge fan of my CDJs personally and Controllers are super convinient and allow you to do a lot of fancy stuff...embrace it all. I've spoken to DJs as young as 15 and they've told me they don't understand why people hate controllers because they find it so much easier...and they also love spinning vinyl even if they find it difficult...the future is bright and accepting of all DJing mediums, it's a shame some adults have to hold the future back.

Well I've always said a DJ is only as good as the music he plays...It's mostly about track selection, you can be stunningly great on the decks or amzingly shit...Play good tracks that the crowd appreciate and they will respond, play crap and they will also respond (most probably by walking off).

Top quality DJ's are usually only admired for their skills by their peers, not by the crowds.

Quite like vinyl meself, have CDJs too though, since not everything is released on licorice pizza :p

Also, new technology is great. Makes mixing more available and affordable.
