Now I'm not usually one to ask for advice or to talk too much about my personal life on here but this is music related so I would appreciate some input...
Basically I got asked to do a tune with someone (Well the message was as simple as "Next time you do a tune save me a 16") who is pretty well known, amongst the hardcore scene anyway. So I recorded a new tune and extended the instrumental sent it him etc he loved it but this was a fair few months ago but still nothing in the way of recording.
Now the guy is INSANELY busy atm with private life & bookings etc and I don't like to pester people because I've had people do that to me and I just end up blanking them altogether lol.
Now the advice part: Should I wait as long as it takes to do a tune with someone that I've always looked up to, admired and will get me heard by a HUGE amount of people?
Or stick the tune out there with just me on it?
Normally I would just wait but the lyrics are probably the best I've ever written as it's a serious tune and it actually means something to me, so I don't want to wait and wait and never end up "releasing" it...

imo, honesty is best. Share your thoughts with him, see what he says and take it from there.
Btw, I happen to know about some other lyrics you recorded and sent to someone a while back.
They're also busy but just happen to be working on that track atm. It's a grind, having to wait for these producer types but.... patience is a virtue.

Haha yea Ionosphere, damn producers taking my vocals and doing nothing with them, shocking ;) ;)
I do hope it gets done because it'll be such a stepping stone for me especially since I'll be Mcing to hardcore again (Live & Tracks) this year (As soon as I move into my new house and know my new job's secure). And the fact that I get to work with someone who has been amazingly inspirational to me for pretty much the past 15 years.
You should of seen me when I got the message from him, don't think I stopped smiling for about 2 weeks. So I really don't want to walk away from this with negative feelings towards him either...

Try looking at it from his point of view dude, was he realllly pumped about jumping on a track with you, or was it a "I'd love to get on this mate hit me back"?
I wouldn't have jumped straight in with a message asking if he's done, but danced around it a bit, and not make it too obvious.
Could have gone something like: I've mixed down my vocals again, so everything sounds cleaner, so we're ready when you're.
or something simple, distraction from it a little bit but still on topic,: I was just thinking, when the track is done, can you suggest someone for mastering?
It's a bit cut and dry, but it makes sense.. and above all else, speak to him like you would a mate, dont try dry humping him over the net.

Looks like a long shot mate, sounds like something he really wanted to do at the time, but as time went on, the enthusiasm dropped. Personally I wouldn't hold my breath, but it could do a 180 an you'll be laughing. It's all on you mate, hard decision to make. Goodluck with whatever the outcome.

contact once, then a second time a week later if no reply. If he does reply, give it a month before asking him again. Two or three times is the most I would ask.
