Hello! I was wondering if anybody could tell me what this sound is called that starts at 2:16 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxFalsZX2tY Would the correct name be "Detuned synth"? More Examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfdK72dS28w Loop I made with a Zebra2 preset that had that sound: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/454108 If anybody could tell me, I couldn't thank you enough! =]

It dosn't have a name, it's just a random synth sound. However what they all have in common is that they are chorded! Or the synth is set with the oscilators at different keys to make it that way, then possibly sampled. Try setting one oscilator at 0 but then set the other one at -7 or -5 (with the semitone control) or whatever sounds right. This is what you are looking for.

Thanks a ton! This really helped! I had no problem getting that sound after doing what you told me.
I guess I'll just call it de-semituned synth for now?

Synth sounds only gain names when a particular sound (that sounds roughly the same every time) has been used many times, to the extent that it can be associated with a name. Everyday sounds though (and if you are creating sounds from scratch which most people do) are different every time and it dosn't make sense to give them a name, they just are what they are, a synthesised sound (unless it's intended to sound like something, like a piano etc).
