so, starting next week i am starting a course to get my class 1 license. that means being able to drive ANY vehicle on the road, including transport trucks across canada and the US.
i want a shit ton of money like yesterday... and am willing to drive around explosive things that will kill me if that means getting paid well. entirely sure i can pass whatever tests are thrown my way. never failed a test to date, driving or otherwise. will be damned if this is the first one i fail.
good idea, bad idea? anyone have family doing this? i basically have no boss, will have someone else paying for petrol and paying me to drive around everywhere which i already love doing, the course is only a few months long... and i get to have an office with an ever changing view and the potential to make $30+ an hour (and also the potential to die a firey death every time i am on the road but that potential already exists anyway). and i drive the the same roads my grandfather i never knew... sounds like the perfect job for me.
doing it more out of necessity than anything. nervous but excited at the same time... and starting next monday!!

Yeah man, that sounds quality! Let us know how you get on.
Sounds like you really enjoy driving anyway. And, if you're going to crash and get maimed horrifically in an accident, you might as well crash with loads of explosives in the back to make sure you properly die, and aren't just left on the side of the road half dead for two days until you die of exposure/injuries sustained in the crash.
:-)
What are you gonna call your truck?

I think I'd rather die two days later than survive a crash like that lol

As long as you like sitting on your ass for hours at a time dealing with traffic and people who cut off a GIANT ****ING TRUCK and then go instantly 30 under the speed limit expecting you to stop the 18billion tons behind you instantly you'll do fine.

I aim to get a truck driving liscence after my training as well. Not that I seriosly want to become a truck driver, but I think it will help me to communicate better with drivers at my work. And of course it makes you more flexible for a company.

Will you be doing all this driving only in Canada? For your sake, I hope so. There's a lot of restrictions for 18-wheeler drivers here in the US. I feel bad for them, as some of the crashes that they've been involved in aren't their own fault.

Don't worry, if he comes through Michigan he'll be fine. Want to talk about a state with lack of restrictions and roads that are like hell because of it you'll find no better place.

there is potential for driving anywhere in canada or the US. i think just because of the lack of experience, i'll have to cut my teeth in alberta driving around petrol products or like... sodium hydrochloride or something. but yeah, willing to take whatever work i can get so yeah. if someone is going to pay me to see any part of this continent, i will probably say yes.
my identical twin bro is doing this too. we were born together, figured if we do team driving, we can facking own this shit... and if we get into a lethal accident, at least we'll be dying together, same way we came into this world.
honestly, the more and more i think about it, this will be the best decision i made in my 25 years of life on this earth.
all of a sudden an oceanfront property doesn't seem so out of reach.
