I dont really like dude singers ...and little dudes are worse. But these far worse stuff out there. When you work in a place where you have to listen radio 8 hours a day, you start to respect songs that dont make you want to bang your head to the wall.

that's just depressing. As far as the song goes, I'm not going to bother.

speaking of pop music, i decided i would go through all the "Now Thats what I call music" albums, starting from the first one in 1983, to the most recent (Now 77) in 2010
and mark down "okayed" songs, i was quite liberal and "okayed" songs i liked, and songs i could handle listening to twice..
fairly simple graph: number of tracks 'liked' on each cd vs total tracks on album,
given as a % of album liked:

its not 100% accurate, but Now cds have most of the chart hits for that particular time period..

I almost feel like writing a paper on my findings, as im going to go through and find more stats, its interesting throughout the 90's there was barely any American music on them, most of it was English and European, littered with eurodance. Right at the end of the 90's theres this massive influx of American bands/boybands and eurodance/dance practically dissapears (from the Now albums) and is replace by 2001 with American RnB/rap groups/pop-punk groups
so country stats to follow i think...on a more personal note - i was born in 1984, so its interesting for me to see chart music mapped like this for the duration of my life so far...looking at it i can see different events happening in my life too and how the graph perhaps links to them..

yes, i have alot of time on my hands

If i ever lose ear sight, its because i had to turn my headphones so loud that i couldnt hear even a glimpse of the noise pollution that is black eyed peas. That shit seriously makes you want to do all sorts of violent things to yourself, just for vague possibility that it'll make the pain go away.

there was. Now he's older it's just bowwow. AFAIK he only ever had two hits and got lucky the first time with a movie soundtrack.

Triq: 90's has always been the best music this side of the 80's, the best dance, alternative rock, grunge, and the late 90's brought the rising of nu-metal. 80's has the best music this side of classical music.

nobody said i didnt like the 80's....

the graph doesn't show what music i liked - the graph shows what music i liked on a cd that was in the 80's

there was plenty of good music in the 80's but not all of it got put on the Now cds, in fact very little of it got put on the Now cds because of how different the record industry was back then..nowadays everything in the charts (well, 90%) is off Universal, EMI and Warner and their child labels, meaning "Now!" are able to put on a huge percentage of chart hits on.. :)

Ah, I see! I kind of missed that point. Liked reading your view of American influence to the music. I noticed that in the 80's most of German music was influenced mostly by the U. K.

As soon as the horribly cliched music started along with the "introductions" for those twats I had to stop it. Gah.

They also have separate black and white versions of the new movie coming out (and no, it won't be shown as a double feature or anything). I think they're taking this a bit too far.
