personally i started last march, i've had the stanton str8-50 package and its damn great. they dont skip, are built to last (no probs so far - well i bust a fuse on one on the first day from scratching the shit out of it for 9 hours flat ) but its a great package, i have the citronic cdm-1 mixer, crap but it does its job. faders basically gone, but thats all the probs ive had. i recommend it, but up to you matey

If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?

I too am acctuly gonna geet sum decks as soon as i get a job. i have been looking for about 3 years to get some, and i have decided that "sod it - i'll acctuly get em now!"
If anyone has the new (autumn 2002) hard to find records cat., the package that i have thought about getting (due 2 rather low budget) the "battlepack II" (dont ya just love the shite names they give these packages!!) which includes 2 Numark TT-1625 (driect drive) decks, and a DM-950 mixer.
a) is that a gud package or not for £329 (u get all the usual crap with it, i.e. headphones)??
b)Is there any other packages aboot that cost more-or-less the same but are better in sum way??

for around £300 no, but keep in mind after a fiew months you will not be happy with it (most likely anyway) and will not be able to sell it easly.
this package will get you used to some aspects of dj'ing, getting your foot in the door, but you will not be able to do everything, as the mixer does not have eq's and the tabels, although direct drive (which you do need) will not have much torque

First you want direct drive.
I would advise you get Technics because that's where we all end anyway. If too much money, go for Gemini pt series. Theya re better than Stanton and Numark and will last almost forever. TO spped them up howver use the wax paper trick under your slipmats.
As for the mixer all I can recommen is Vestax. I have the pmc-05 pro original not the made in china crappy version 2. I've had it for three years now and have never had a problem. Works great for mixing but it is designed for scratching/battling.
As for the needles/styli. I've never been able to afford anything more than the stanton 505sk's with headshells. Stanton or Ortonfon are the name when it comes to needles.
Hope that helps you out.

i have seen events there before so just keep on checking back
