So I came across Dj Kurt's "Straight From the Underground" and I fell in love with the kick. And I have an idea for a track that would use that kind of kick. Rather than using a sample, I want to learn how to make one. I tried EQing and distorting and I got the punch of the kick to sound pretty good but I couldn't get the fuzz on the end of the kick. Is the bassline distorted as well or am I missing something with the process?

Probably layered two kicks together and eq'd the bottom end off the one with the distorted fuzzy sound. That should work but you might get some phasing if it's not eq'd right, maybe even adjusted the attack on the distorted layer?
Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not good with this producing lark.
