I say credit to them for putting out an ACTUAL CD release instead of a download.
So many compilations or albums these days are just download only, its getting rather dull. I much prefer to buy a physical product that I can keep.
Making actual CDs is alot more risky financially as there are alot of costs involved that an mp3 album doesnt have. And with the size of the hardcore scene, the amount of compilations coming out at this time of the year, and the recession, I say credit to them for putting together a 3 disc CD out there for just 5!! At a fiver you cant much go wrong!

deca for some reason werent greatly liked at the time, i can't fully remember the reasons why, i think people were getting the impression they were cashing in a little bit. (you'd have to read the topics back then to get a real idea on it..
interesting tracklist, it looks like they've just pulled songs off their old compilations and they re-released it?
jumping on APEX's bandwagon? :P
for some reason the chick on the cover seems a little more tastful than some of the other hussies "they" put on them...i dont know whether its the colouring effect or what..just doesnt look slutty - still pretty cheap to stick a model on there though - not that the artwork should be too much of an issue....at the end of the day though, its what's going to sit on my cd shelf...ugh
.
..
i feel im getting too old for this.
@redwings - the whole download album thing, is that not just the same "mimimal risk" as getting a "DIY" cd cut through CanYouFeelIt media? like CDS-On Demand, minimal risk in those type companys too no?

Cant say I have ever used CYFI Media to make CDs :s didnt even know they did that.
My point is...You have to pay for the actual CDs and packaging, this will more than likely be a 4 figure sum (maybe more depending on units). Also with physical releases you pay publishing up front. On a 1000 unit CD project with an RRP of 5, thats another 425 that you have to pay prior to release. Download albums pay publishing as they are sold because there is an 'infinite' number.
So thats manufacturing costs, mastering costs (100 per mix approx), publishing costs, artwork costs and the time and effort of filling in your AP2 form (a daunting task), and organising everything with the manufacturing plant and getting your artwork to their spec.
Whats a download album? Master the mix, upload it to trackitdown or other similar website? The pay publishing for you as it sells, there is no manufacturing cost, no handling of stock and sending them to distro or dealing with royal mail yourself. Its easy. Perhaps costs you the mastering price and thats it, so 100 to make an album. A lot less artwork too.
You have to sell alot more of a physical product to break even than you do of a download and if you use distro, the money takes alot longer to find its way back round to you with a physical product, your the last to get paid.
Trust me, physical CDs (done correctly and legitimately) are alot of work. I went through it all with our CDs.

Decadance use to be a big label in the early 2000's. I remember they had their own web site and produced loads of compilations with actual mixes and from a wide range of dance genres.
I have a feeling it has changed ownership somewhere along the line as it appears to have had a sudden change in direction.
And this album looks to me like the majority of tracks have appeared on their previous no 1 albums only with a few new tracks. It's nothing special and not one I'd want to purchase.

i was under the impression they and others are a more "on demand" thing, you pass on the material to them, then they press and print as orders come in

The CD is being sold in HMV stores which means the stores would have to be stocked prior to any orders coming in. There has to be a first bulk of units to be made, otherwise by the 'on-demand' idea, nobody would be able to buy the CD on release date unless they had pre-ordered as the company wouldnt know how many were wanted. Unless you dont mean customer orders by 'on demand' but retailer orders, in which case, HMV etc would still have to ask for X amount to be made in order to stock them in store prior to release.
As it is a physical release, publishing must still be dealt with by the label running the CD. Thats an upfront cost that has to be paid before any CD plant can even legally press the CDs

Looks good to me, nice mix of names and material. It's only 4.99 with free delivery from play.com people! - http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/17268638/100-Hardcore/Product.html Can't go wrong with that for a 3 disk CD with some great material on it. If you've got everything on it already that's fair enough but there will be plenty people out there that don't.
