Very unlikely you would want/need to do this. The reason you high pass the other intruments (if needed) is to stop it clogging up the low end so the kick and bass have as much room as possible.

High passing is definitely not needed on kick and bass. I roll 30hz off my sub sometimes (sub layer of bass), or if it's just one bass i made, i'll perhaps roll 30hz off. It depends though. Some producers are different. I would never roll low end off (or high pass) a kickdrum though. I've known some producers who sometimes remove low end of kicks or basses, but i guess it's down to the actual mix. Low end is often the hardest to get right, once you get the low end right it sets the foundations to build upon the track. At the end of the day, the best tool is your ears.
But really, since DANCE MUSIC is based upon the kickdrum and bass especially, why roll off low end on the fundamentals that drive the track.

Yeah definitely. As a general rule, you roll off at least 100hz off everything except kick and bass. Don't roll too much off, roll off as much as the sound allows you, before it starts loosing the fundamentals of the sounds, thus thinning it out too much. It's just to get rid of low end gunk which isn't needed on many things, mainly only kick and bass.

Sonalksis EQ has a pretty accurate frequency spectrum analyzer built in. Headphones are pretty bad for low end... Need to get some monitors!
