I'm trying to get my head around compression during the mastering process. I have a guide from college, a book from music tech and a picture of a trampoline (which helps, actually lol)

But for hardcore specifically, what sort of settings do I need? I know I'm meant to go by my own ear, but what I may think is fine, may not be to anyone else. I dont have monitors, I have a SONY 550W System and some seriously ****ed headphones (more sound on one side, cost me a fiver).

I assume that I want to make it sound pumpy, giving it a fast attack (32ms?) and a fast release (33ms?) with a ratio around 3:0, but thats probably all wrong....?

dude if you have not got monitors got no chance of getting it right by ear, even with monitors you would idealy want a sound treated room, best for you is to pay to get it mastered becuse if all you got is headies you are bound to of ****ed up your stereo mixdown, most big name producer often get there stuff mastered by other people would look into purefocus mastering they seem to be pretty good from what i have herd
