Credits go to Galaxee for the original track.

Galaxee - Fairytale

http://soundcloud.com/v-act/galaxee-fairytale-v-act-remix

Please give feedback! (I really need it lulz...)

EDIT: I made an edited version with another bass sound, another lead and without volume problems (of what I can hear...)

Its awesome!
Your first remix, but u did some more stuff before, didnt u? =)

I think Limiter and volumes might be the problem. During main parts synth looses much of it's volume.

For future, I suggest to use lower gain in Limiter. And maybe u should also lower the volume of the kick and the bass so that you can hear synth better. =)

Thanks a lot!

Yeah I did some stuff before but I was only fooling around.

Yeah... But if I lower the kick, it blurs into the music and looses it's strength.

But thanks!

It will make them stronger.

I don't compress the drums. Just load them.

I disabled the limiter completely but it didn't do very much.

U should try 2 compress drums. But if u dont like it, ok.

Limiter disabling is not a good idea. Ceil/Gain were problems I think.

First see how much dB song reaches in its loudest part. Use Fruity dB Meter 4 that.
First adjust limiter Ceil according 2 that. For example, if its max 6 dB, then put it on 5 dB or 4.5 dB.
After that configure Gain. Gain increases loudness (dB) until it reaches Ceil value, and its speed depends about attack/release/third-thing-i-cant-remember.

After that just decrease the master volume until song reaches the loudness u wanna get.

Yeah the original had the limiter turned on and to keep the master levels at 0.0dB, it reduced the sound of the lead when the kick dropped.

The newer version sounds very good, but I still think that the power and strenth of the lead is lost behind the kick. The bass and kick are a good combination, but monopolise the mix a bit too much.

Similarly, you cant hear the hats or snare too well.

As for the melody itself, its very nice. I love the bass modulation you have going. Keeps it flowing nicely, but the lead seems to be looping over and over and it gets nothing other than boring...

I suggest using some more layers and sounds to bring in and drop out at different times to keep the listener interested. Also use some effects, from about 33 seconds in, the main saw could do with a filter to take it out and bring it in for the drop.

Other than that, this track is good practise for learning the ins and outs and the basics for producing hardcore. :) Keep it up!

Good point =).

Synth sounds good 2 me.

but ure right, hats arent rlly noticable...
And I agree lead is kind of repetitive. Thats why you add something to the lead, make different parts, and put breakdowns where they are the most required, and also a repetitive part...
And dont forget transitions and effects! Transition making is kinda boring 2 me, but its "vital" xD.
And I think u need 2 make usual (extended) beginnings and endings so that songs could be mixed by DJs.

Limiter thing, volumes of each channel and stuff... Pure maths 2 me xD. Very boring part of the work.
