Hi guys I'm posting this thread because I'm overly undecided about the concept of converting from mixing to producing and I would like to know what people on this site think I should do. I started out mixing on vd roughly 6 months ago converted to decks around a month to two months ago still having trouble picking up beat matching but I know the basic concept of mixing and structure beats bars etc but I'm overly excited to begin learning to produce I'm not sure if I should start at the moment or wait till I finish mastering mixing well mastering the basics really.
I'd also like to know what program would be good to start of with I know fl studios is always an option but theres plenty out there or would it be better to start of with a keyboard synth / sequencer is there any relative tutorials out there that would be worth showing me?

Well, considering music production is a MUCH longer road to travel you should get started as soon as possible. :) Learning to mix isn't really gonna help you in your production so no benefit in waiting.

beat matching isn't important?? when working with acapella/vocals thats the main thing you need to get spot on, even if it's a stomping tune it'll sound terrible if the vox are out, i will agree though & say theres no point waiting & go with the easier option of FL

Knowing the basics on mixing is kinda important. You want to be able to understand the structure of a song, what elements to include in the mix ins and mix outs etc.
Beat matching isnt so important. It goes without saying that vox need to be in the right place.......

as said above you got a shit load to learn the fundamentals of sound/frequencies is a hard thing to get down , as far as what soft where to get i recommend getting a MAC and Logic 9 , comes bundled with all you need to make a slamming track right out of the box
NOTE in track bellow i used ES2(logic synth) for leads , bass , pads , arp and 2 layers of Ultrabeat (drum synth ) for kik
