Jimmy J & Cru-L-T - Runaway '97?!

...For me?!

Oh, you shouldn't have!

But I'm glad you did! :P

Did you really work with Frolic for "feels so right"? Just seems bizzare to imagine him producing a track at all!

Oh and on a half related note I have to say that the S3RL remix of Success & Mistreet has changed my mind on ressurecting it!

Runaway 97? Is that on my site for free? It probably should be if its not lol...

When getting the mixes for Success'n'mistreet, I knew there were only three people who might be able to do good versions. Me (but I had already done a mix and didn't want to try again, plus "normal" modern hardcore isn't my strong suit), Gammer, and S3rl. I chose S3rl because I think he is one of the best producers out there, and Gammer has already come through nd is successful in his own right, whereas S3rl could benefit a little from remixing me, which would mean he is more hungry for the work. Thats what I thought, and it paid off, I reckon. Its a very tough line to walk with a track like that - it needed to be humorus, but not crappy, happy, but as cheese free as possible - very difficult. S3rl did an amazing job and I have massive amounts of respect for that! Its a great remix.

As for Frolic? He was introduced to me by a friend who asked me to give him studio time. He turned up at my studio, sat around doing very little while I made the track, took the track back to Canada, tried to put it on his album without crediting me or paying for it, but ran into trouble because I caught him at it, and is in my opinion an utter twat. Just saying.

Absolutely, great call on S3RL although the two of you just seem worlds apart in my mind, can't imagine the two of you in the same room to be honest!

Yeah I mean, I wouldn't feel right badmouthing frolic too much because he's responsible for my favorite CD series ever, even if they never reached here as far as I'm aware but from what I've heard from other people...it hasn't been good to be honest, so yeah that doesn't surprise me unfortunately!

Oh yeah, when you met MC Hammer way back did he let you touch anything??

Haha, nah, MC Hammer was really cool. It was really hard not to say "stop, Hammertime" because that was what rolled around my head.
As for S3rl, we are very different I think - different eras, different style, different countries. But he has a genuine love for hardcore, and tries hard to be original, and in that we are the same. Plus I like to get opposite people to do work for me. I spent a good half an hour trying to persuade Styles to do a track with me a few years ago, just because it would be such an unlikely collaboration. No luck tho, lol.

And Frolic? Well, he has upset some people, but I am sure he has sorted other people out nicely. No one is all bad, nor all good. My experience with him was less than fantastic, but if you look around you will no doubt find some people that think I am a twat too. Such is life. I am way past caring, and certainly hold no resentment towards Frolic - or anyone for that matter. I have a very simple rule for working in this business - trust everyone once. If they screw you, then never work with them again. It makes for an easy life - I don't have to worry about contracts or getting paid or anything, I just bumble around having a good time. And I find most people are honest, and everything turns out fine. Frolic messed me about, so *click* deleted from my life, instant irrelevance lol...But he is one of maybe 6 people in nearly 20 years. Thats a pretty good score for honest versus evil IMO. And even if he is the biggest ass ever, it doesn't mean his work is worthless. Mozart was pretty annoying by all accounts, too.

Totally, don't get me wrong! I love Frolic! I've heard much worse about other people in the scene and I still respect them for what they have done and their knowledge! =)

While you're here, because you're probably the best person around to ask; what IS the chance of Jimmy J ever coming back for at least one more live appearance? Wanted to see him at the last History of Hardcore but unfortunately he was a no show! Was absolutely gutted, saw a few other people literally in tears!

I miss Jimmy. He was one of my best friends, and the person I was most successful with musically. But we haven't spoken for a long, long time. There is no animosity, I would love to see him and just hang out, make a tune, whatever, but I have no idea if he will ever play a set or anything. No idea at all, sorry!

Jimmy J :D, very underrated imo. Corr, some of his were classics!

He was one of the best DJs when he was at full effect (yeah I went there...)

Whilst your on here, Luna-C, will you be doing a Supaset 11? I remember Supaset 10 didnt go how you planned and I cant remember if you were going to continue the series or not.

@ Brian K, the name of the EP is from Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. One of the later books has a side character called Wonko The Sane who builds an inside out house because the outside world is an asylum, whereas he lived in the sane world. He went "sane" after seeing the instructions on a packet of toothpicks, and claimed any society that needed instructions for toothpicks was obviously mad. I thought it suitable lol...

@ Acidfluxxbass I started Supaset 10, got halfway through, then realized I was utterly bored of it, so I scrapped it. Those dubs will be released as "Supaset 10 rejects" on KFD in the future, once I have a version of Supaset 10 that I am happy with. So I will release a Supaset 10, some tracks from that set, and some rejected tracks all at the same time.
Then I will either call it a day on the Supasets, or will start work on Supaset 11. We will see! What I cant do is either force music, nor release a Supaset that I am not proud of. Right now, Supaset 10 is heading in the same direction as the Bangface set I did a while back - less rip offs and silliness, more various varied music from all different people and scenes and times.
