How does this idea grab you:
I'm thinking of offering a free service to people to take their mixes from regular mixes posted on here and making them into the best possible "product" I can. Meaning, adjusting sound levels to make in constant throughout the entire mix, adjusting the overall sound level so it stands along side regular CD releases in terms of volume, providing a cue sheet and a full zip file with a full 320kbps mp3 mix split and fully labelled separate tracks ready for CD burning. All you would need to do is provide me with the original wav or 320kbps mp3 of the recording and the track list. I'll do the rest.
I can also make small or large edits to the mix to make it fit onto CD, take out minor errors. Plus I'm thinking of offering eq'ing to the overall mix to take out some of the nasty levels that can happen.
One of the things that I pride myself on when I put mixes online is the overall product which I put out, for an example of what I'm talking about download the zip of my latest nu rave mix. Some people put out good mixes but because the volumes, sound quality and stuff is all over the place they tend not to get listened too as much. A good product will make people sit up and listen.
Anyone up for that?

Feel free to send it over, with tracklist. I'll have it back to you within a day or so.

gotta make sure people understand the goal your trying to reach then mortis :) as you said 'ready to press on cd like quality'. People can't just go pressing their mixes on cd for private sales. You do not want to support that. Other than that nice idea. Would advice to ask 44.100mhz stereo wav's. Will make the outcome better as sending in 320kbps mp3 already compresses the quality compared to wav's.
good luck with this.

What they do with their own mixes is entirely up to them. It doesn't bother me if they want to sell their own CD's.

I know. I did say wav but some people might not be able to or know how to make wavs plus the size of the file might put people off uploading a wav. Either way it shouldn't make much of a difference to use 320 mp3 but you're right, wav is definitely better.

Not as such just giving the mix a polish up. I can do little bits of mastering with regards to eq and stuff but as that's a subjective thing I don't think I'd attempt it unless someone asks me too.

Seems a plan to me mate! I've listened to many a mix that have been ruined by poor levels. Although some people would be better off learning to use the gains a bit more rather than fixing it after a mix is recorded. Wont help in a live environment!
Still... A good idea!

Yeah defiantly AW. In some cases it's just a minor adjustment here or there but in others it's an adjustment after every transition. I've noticed mixes where you have to do loads of work after it tend to be mixed by either newcomers to mixing or people without a mixer that shows volume levels.
My last mixer never used to show both channels separately so it was really hard to get each track at the same level. The new one I have now is great, it can switch from master level to each deck separately. So much better to use.

Fair enough. It's not a bad idea, looking back at my early mixes the levels are all over the place.
