Percussion other than the kick sounds ok to me. Kick needs more presence, as does the bass.

I agree the kick needs to be more present. Have you tried mastering yet? That will help give it a more polished sound. Another thing, I noticed the structure track varies from what I have found to be "standard." Which is cool and unique, but mixing (like DJ mixing) it may prove to be a challenge. My biggest piece of advice that I've got from other producers, and I'm sure you've probably heard it yourself, is to just listen to what the pros are doing. Don't copy them, but learn from it. The only other feedback bit I have is to work a little on your transitions, i.e. from kick in to melody, etc. Other than that dude it sounds good. I love the melody! Haha.

*Please keep in mind I'm no God of producing, I'm just speaking from my experiences with what other people have told me and things I have found through my own research and stuff. Stick with it dude! You'll get it.

Sigh...mastering will only pronounce the mixdown. A good master will not fix a bad mixdown.

TC, here is the most important question: What do YOU think about your mixdown? What do you notice when you play your mixdown side by side to a track that you really like? Mixdowns are so personable that there is no way to genuinely answer your question.

For example, I think your kick is the least of your problems. The hihat/shakers and claps are way to on top of the mix. I also hear some mud from your kick/bass, especially during the chorus. What kind of EQ have you done on the bass? Cut off everything below 50hz and see if that sounds better.

All that however, is my opinion.

i do get what youre saying but....... asking for advice on a mixdown when i have got fairly old monitors really does help me compensate & correct things i cannot hear, after hearing the same tune over & over your ears do play tricks on you ya know :D

thanks for taking the time to listen :)
