I used the very 1st Techno Ejay that came out years ago, and yes, it was very limited on creation when compared to FL. Has anyone used any of the newer editions of Techno Ejay? I was thinking of getting edition 5, but only after hearing some reviews. It's cheaper than FL, and I want something a bit more user-friendly.

i dont think there are any new versions of techno ejay - they made newer versions of "Dance Ejay" - which i seem to remember the expanded loads of support for, and "rave ejay"

Just get any DAW really, there are even some free ones out there as far as I know, though I'm not enlightened on their quality.
That's the software part covered.
Then just get some samples, like this for instance:
http://www.dancemidisamples.com/DMS-Rave-Samples.html 7 pounds for 450megs of breaks, stabs and single hits, pretty good deal :p There's also this for 3 pounds: http://www.dancemidisamples.com/DMS-Old-Skool-Rave.html About 520megs of old skool samples for 10 quid, pretty sweet deal innit :p edit: the pound symbol doesn't work D;

You're probably thinking of a tracker but feck knows which one.
WC - Just keep at it with FL. EJay is a toy for kids. ;)

Well, I already know the platform for the old Ejay, because I use to own the very 1st edition. I was only asking if Ejay had converted to something similiar to FL. I guess not, so I will just invest in FL.

Don't know what you guys are talking about?! It isn't limited: Darren Styles, Hixxy and Scott Brown all use it!
Try harder.

Comparing Ejay and FL is like comparing Paint and Photoshop; the former is easy but lacking in features and the latter is complex but powerful. FL, just like most other major DAWs, is very easy and powerful once you get to know it. There are innumerable tutorials for FL available on the web now, both free and requiring the monies. I would recommend taking the long-term investment.

[digression]I remember how when I was younger, whenever I was over at my dad's I would churn out songs made entirely of loops from stock libraries with Soundtrack Pro on his Mac. I didn't even know what MIDI or a VST plugin was then, and that was just 2006![/digression]
