So are you asking for samples of what we believe should be in the genre map? Do you want videos, or samples to put on the site?

I can do Trance, Hard Trance, and Psy Trance for you since I have all three in videos, and in things I could sample down.

Euhmm this is really simple... The dutch are right cause they invented the hardcore. And the word Gabber is cause all of the hardcore minded people at that time (91-92)were so called friends (gabbers) from each other. And other countries picked it up as a subterm for hardcore cause of the difference's in bpm's. What A Shame.... And think further.. There are even tracks with the line: GABBERS UNITE. And Gabbers against racism and fascism.it's on every Mokum record. And Rob gee says it also, he puts that gabber up his ass.. SO..... Gabber is no subterm it's your hardcore friend. End of discussion......End of Line!!

Actually the term 'hardcore' to describe a certain type of music, was originally used to describe some early 80s American punk bands that started using a harder sound, which was referred to as just hardcore, or the DC sound (DC as in Washington). Some also wrote it harDCore to emphasize the DC bit. (Digression: This hardcore also further evolved into the first type of emo, which was darker and harder than the super cheesy My Chemical Romance style emo you have today, and some of these early emo bands called themselves 'hardcore' bands rather than emo bands.)

So if you want to call something just 'hardcore', then based on what chronologically came first, you would be talking about this type of punk rock (some noobs think it's a type of metal, but it isn't). Hell, even hip hoppers were quicker than EDM to label a type of their music hardcore.

Most people who listen to (electronic) hardcore (independent of country) will label the Dutch style gabber, regardless of what the Dutch say, and as such it's gabber. After all if these "gabbers" are anti fascism, I'm sure they're pro-democracy?

Oh, and I believe 89-92/3/4 rave music in the UK was also called just hardcore.

So can we go on with making suggestions for the guide, instead of arguing over a name?

in response to everyones question here - as it says in the first post under the bit that says "please read carefully before posting"

the genre map isnt for a history lesson. the genre map is "here and now" if you type in the word gabber on in a musical search engine - you will only get one form of music

if you type in the word hardcore ....you will still get music coming up from all forms of "hardcore"

i want the information on the genre map to match the information out there - and even wiki says gabber is under hardcore
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardcore_techno

this is all back to the begining where we arent trying to confuse listeners

however - project_industrial

genres are different in different countrys and i think its important that we fit that in, so we will get your information in there, meanwhile dont get so stressed out, we wont put it live until everyone is happy (or at least as happy as we can make each other!) at the moment this thread is/are the only people who can really see it!

hehe, its a tricky one see

because 89-93 was called "hardcore".....gabber is definately refered to as just hardcore in parts of europe, and then you have other parts of the world who will settle for hardcore being 4/4 dance above 165bpm

its a tricky one for sure - we'll get it sorted though! :)
