I uploaded a non-final version of my latest track (co-written with Mini Lynny) to http://soundcloud.com/fractal-dimension/in-your-arms/s:x97kr, just to get some feedback on the production and mixing. I've been messing around entirely too much with the vocals to make them sit in the mix, that's the best I could come up with. Tips, tricks and constructive criticism are welcome.

Well, it was a great experience to collaborate with you and tbh im really satisfied with the result. I really like the bassline as it's rather dominant, just the way i like it, and the powerful melody blows my mind away.:D

righto...listeing now but cant really comment on mixdown as im on shite cans
-personally i think the clap is a bit do dominent in themix..but thats just my taste i like a very thin clap..
-nice wee kick and base and percussion all sounds well..also in the intro the wee vocal snippets are really great with a nice synth and snare rolls the intro is really great
-into the breakdown i love the wee arp and the backverb on the vocal is cool...vocal is very nice so nice one lynny on that one...cool wee filtering acid here...i thought this was the main drop at 2.33 and was like build up wasnt anything special...but then got to 2.50 - 2.55 and its really cool wee transition..love the wee lead effect u have going on in there...great wee main section
-maybe some points the vocal sticks out a bit being a touch loud..but not really noticable im just being fairly critical trying to find which i cant
really nice tune dude..quite impressed i am

Yeah, I tend to like my claps thick and hard. :D Actually it's layered with a snare, this might make it even thicker. Will think about dialing back on that.
I kinda expected some similar comments regarding the vocals... I had all sorts of trouble getting them sit in the mix, and I agree it's not perfect yet, I just wanted to put it out there for some feedback. I'm at a loss here on what to tweak to make it better, but maybe I just spent too much time listening to it in the last two weeks.

my fractal style review :D
0.00-1.17 Very nice intro section. The vocals sound very well sung and integrated with the track. The bass and kick work well and the percussion is pretty much flawless!
1.17-2.11 Very good vocalist here, and nice sounds, but at nearly a minute I did kinda feel it went on slightly
2.11-2.35 Loved this build into the drop
2.35-3.41 Unsure if this was the melody section or not. The sounds are very nice, and it has satisfactory energy, but didnt really pick up and lift off, if you get me
3.41-3.44 Great breakdown and build up once again.
3.44-6.15 This section for me was a bit too long and like the first main section, didnt really lift off
6.12-7.02 A nice DJ Friendly outtro. Nice track. Production was top notch, just not entirely my kinda hardcore.

acidfluxxbass: Thanks for the feedback, especially for breaking it down like I usually do. :)

Initially it was even longer than that... :) It's almost like the breakdown in a vocal trance tune, which might be a bit out of place in hardcore, but to me it felt just right, so didn't cut back further.

The main melody section starts at 2:55, it's building up gradually. I find it very hard to write a really uplifting lead melody without sounding too similar to previous big tunes, that's clearly something for me to work on.

Thanks for providing such detailed and thoughtful comments anyways, very much appreciated.

This is very nice man. The open hi-hat needs to come up more, as does the lead a touch. Not keen on the kick either.
Nice track though mate and wicked vocals from Lynny. :D

*edit*
Got it!
A lovely track, bloody lovely.
There's a Topic on here about how Hardcore will sound in 2010.
More Hardcore like this would be marvelous.
(PM sent re vocals)

Thanks guys, will try to keep it up to this standard all year! Actually I'm looking to get this one signed once it's really finalized... Any takers? ;)

Reminds me a lot of Jon Doe or CLSM, I like it a whole lot :D. The track has good energy and I can't really comment on the mixing. I do believe a bit of a boost on the vocals would be good. Keep up the good work!
