Ok so right now windows 7 is just shitting on anything i bring up, only chrome wont crash, so i got my ubuntu 9.10 a few weeks ago in the mail and i want to give it a go...... but i finally got over my music writers block, and been messing with fl again....
Is there a way to use fl on ubuntu, i heard about WINE but has anyone tried these two?

reinstall windows is the easiest way though :p but yes.. wine is a good option that i would use if i wouldnt want windows again. only disadvantage i've experienced with linux is that if you shutdown wrong it has a bigger chance on major failure then windows :p so all your projects be lost hehehe but then again... been a few years since i properly worked with linux =]

Sounds to me more like either a hardware problem or a hardware compatibility issue, since you mentioned that it runs fine on another system but not yours.

go wine ;)
I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/LInux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

I'm on Linux alot and never even bothered trying FL. Not a hope I'd say.
Check out Linux Multimedia Studio
It's no replacement but it's surprisingly good
As far as I know it's in the 9.10 repository so it's simples to install

You could try Ardour or Muse on Linux. Those are both some pretty full fledged DAW's for Linux. Might be better for stability than using FL.

Although Windows applications can be run on Linux using the free and open-source Wine (http://winehq.org) or its enhanced, commercial cousin CrossOver (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/), I think that's asking for trouble... DAW applications, especially when running a bunch of third party VST plugins, are just too complex and time-critical to run smoothly.
Instead I would suggest a couple of alternatives instead of FL, which run natively on Linux (and also on Win & Mac, by the way):
Renoise (http://www.renoise.com) is a kind of a combination of oldschool tracker and modern DAW.
energyXT (http://www.energy-xt.com) is closer to a more conventional DAW, something like Ableton Live without the session view.
It might be worth checking those out, they are both really cheap and have a great user community.
