Alright, so my setup is 2 1200's, a djm800 and Torq. The 1200's can only change the pitch +/- 8, so this is limiting. My question is what is the best program I can use that will allow me to modify a track's bpm so I can bring it up or down to a more plausible speed for my mix. Like let's say I have a song at 160 bpm and I want to play a mix that averages 180 bpm, so I'd want to make the song around 170-175 bpm. thanks in advance.

You could always gradually build the speed of your mix throughout. The best way to do it in my opinion, adds something to the mix.
I wouldn't suggest pitching it, anything pitched that much will sound horrible. You could try timestretching but most programs will make a right hash of it. You'll need something very capable if you're wanting something that's actually useable. Ableton is supposed to be good for it and I'm sure there is a few audio editors out there that would be up to the task.

Acid Pro will do that for you no problem. Personally I'm with AW on this one, I like to pick up the pace during the whole mix (if I feel like it). I agree on the pitch things that AW picked up on too but if your playing tracks at 180+ bpm then they're pretty much going to sound horrible anyway imo so I guess some overlly pitched up tracks won't make much of a difference anyway.

actually not all.. depends a little on the style and such.. i usually like it better when a 160-170 track is pitched 180 :) depends a lil on the tracks/style as i said :)

When it comes to hardcore loads of songs sound good in the 180's. Just check disc 2 of HU4.

your best bet is to do a gradual build on tempo. people produce song at a certain tempo for a reason, they sound good at it. if you go too fast on a song it becomes obvious as sounds start to distort.
of course you could always mod your 1200s pitch as well...

do what i did, get rid of the technics and get some numarks... for a few reason:
1. Pitch adjustment +/- 8, 10, 25, & 50
2. 3 Speeds 33 1/2, 45, and 78
3. they are generally cheaper and just as good.
there you have it!

As some people already said, it might sound crap to pitch or timestretch it, but if you really want it, set your Turntable to 45 RPM and pitch it down, I don't know on how many BPM you come, but try it.
