Howcome other genres that go just as fast as Hardcore aren't catagorized under "Hardcore"? One example is Psytrance. I have an unmixed, full length psytrance cd, and the last 2 or 3 songs on the album are at 170 bpm. (The album is Cosmo's Akustikal Pullution).

The same reason Hardcore isn't classed as D&B - because it isn't D&B. Just like Trance isn't Dubstep. House isn't R&B. They're not the same......i thought that was obvious :p

Yeah BPM is essentially nothing, just a basis. It's all about the musicality and style.

Well, I was gearing towards the 4/4 genres, not the syncopated beats.

BEcause it is a different genre regardless of bpm as meathead just said. house isnt hardcore, dnb isnt hardcore.

Allot of goa trance is like 190bpm. and I love it :)
