Do you guys high-pass the synths? is it necesary? or is the equing in the final mastering enough?

I don't routinely high-pass anything, but if the situation calls for it then i will. It's entirely based on what the song requires; same for all EQ'ing.

I would generally high pass something if it is interfering with my low frequency sounds.

I would recommend getting yourself a simple frequency analyzer and running it on all your channels while learning to EQ. Seeing a visual of what you're dong to the sound can be very helpful.
