anyone else got the dvd that came with the mag?
on the front it stats "all the software you need to start making music now" and is full of samples
what i want to know is, if i put it in the laptop will i need anything else or is everything i need on the disk?

The production softwarecomes with every copy of CM Mag. Basically, a DAW and some VSTs i believe and yes loads of samples, different ones with every edition. Not exactly top of the range, but it is what it is and does what it does (i imagine).
Are you actually looking at getting into producing? In a way, it does contain all you NEED to make music, but that doesn't mean to say it's good. For £6 though you can't argue. I actually quite liked the Zebra CM VST, that comes with it, when i had a bash at it. Have you bought a copy yet? If not get down WHSmith, pick up the latest copy (this months is a corcker i must say), give the lady on the till your money, take it home and relish in the best £5.99 you have spent (i may be exagerating a little).
Also the Styles & Breeze "production masterclass" is shit.

try ebay - alot of the back issues are on there...all else fails check the website, cause i think you can order back issues on it

Check the site. http://www.computermusic.co.uk/ I think you may be able to re-order back issues though, i'm not sure. Me gets the feeling though you didn't actually buy the magazine and it's gone missing, but you saw the vid on one of the many forums it's probably graced. No harm in it mate, they're all over youtube. Search for "production masterclass" on either google or youtube and you'll find much better vids, imo. Though i've never seen one from a Trance artist. DAW - Digital Audio Workstation. Logic (Mac only i think), Cubase, FL. CM Mag is always a good resource for information. You'll learn plenty from them, i'd recommend getting the subscription, saves you a few bob, or just buy the ones you like the look of. Worth checking out too is Future Music magazine, basically the same but different. Also check http://hardcoreproducer.org. You behave yourself if you sign up there though, you're representing HH.com. Have a look about for some trance music production forums too.

Fair enough. The 90bpm loops can easily translate to 180 ththough so don't be too quick to discard them. But the samples on the CDs aren't always great.
As for vids. Mistabishi's is a personal favourite of mine, he actually owns a 303 . Steve Angello's is good but not on youtube (google it and you'll find it). Sub Focus' is pretty sweet, shows you how to make some naaaaaasty Bass sounds. Rusko's is good, but that's Dubstep. Whether they're Hardcore or trance or whatever they're worth a watc, still gives you a perspective on how other people work and also can inspire you in your own productions.

clsm masterclass is pretty mint tbh...ya learn a bit from him...the breeze and styles one is really shite...i often get cm just to read but sometimes raid the disc for vsts...genesis and zebra are always handy
wouldnt generally use the samples..cause most of the time they are shite..that being said i did get a decent bk sample pack from the disc a while back
