hiya iv been thinking of getting virtual dj for a while now, just not really had the money, it seems easy to use for an amateur like myself,
My mate at work said he found a few better programs out there and theyre supposed to be cheaper
So what is the best program to get for an amateur? Cheers ppl!

Not being much of a help (sorry), but Virtual DJ. I've been using it for almost a year now and I love it compared to the other software out there. Only problem is that the price is a complete scam.
Pretty much all of the "free" ones I've found are trials, or crippled versions of their pro counterparts. Maybe someone will know of a good free one.

You need more compounds in your programme mate

i use m-audio's torq, great program, great price ($300), very stable running platform. I have used VDJ in the past, i found it had some latency issues with it, when I used it. In the end, it really about what your opinion is on each, how much research you have done on each program, and what your willing to pay for. I almost went out and bought Serato, but i found torq, did some research, and i am very happy with it.
hope that helps!!

Seriously... Pay for your programs or you can't post anything you do. Its not quite as bad as stealing music, but its still very frown upon. Seriously just get Decks its much more fun. Just start off with something cheep it will hardly cost you more than a serious program. Just go on craigslist or something and get some used gear if you're not sure about it. Thats what I did and I'm heavy into it now.
