well, first thing I notice about the track is the fact in it i heard 5 different sounds. 2 of which are percussion.
A kick drum,
Snare,
Trance pluck
Saw
Bass saw
For a track to move from piece to piece and travel through a normal song structure, you need to use different sounds and whatnot. The big issue for me is the fact you're using one sound for about 5 different riffs. You need to vary it a little bit.
Don't get me wrong through, its a nice sounding track compared to the other ones.
As far as song structure is concerned though, I normally operaate tracks to work in this basic format:
4 bars kick drum
4 bars kick with single note bass
8 bars kick with full bass with some more stuff thrown in
2-4 bars on a small breakdown then buildup into a melody
4 melody
4-8 breakdown > buildup / or perhaps a break beat bit? eh ;)
8 bars melody perhaps
8 bars to outro
try that simple format. the track has to remain fresh and enjoyable for the 5-6 minutes. it can't get boring, thats the trick.
also, throw in the following basic sounds that are normally a neccesity:
Kick drum,
Snare,
Open Hat,
Clap,
Bass,
Saw.
Obviously throw in other stuff according to your creativity.
Also, hardstyle, from what i know is a powerful as hell style of music. the kick controls the song rather than the bass and often you get kicks which will flow into each other. yours is a bit too mellow in this track. also, your track really sounded more like trance to me rather than hardstyle. be sure to listen to plenty of hardstyle to get the feel for what the genre demands.
Keep it up! Ima gonna watch Casualty, now.
