To those of you who have used both, I was wondering which of the pitch correct functions is better. I have Cubase Studio 4.5 but am wanting a pitch corrector and was wondering if the one in Cubase 5 is anywhere as good as melodyne (which I, btw, would be getting the UNO version to start with, if I do) or should I go with upgrade to studio 5? $199.99 vs. $99.99 respectively.

EDIT: I'm in Colombia which means I would still have to fork out at least an extra 50 bux to have the Cubase Studio 5 upgrade delivered here.

I have Melodyne 3.2 and Cubase 5

I prefer Cubase 5, by far:

For one, you don't have to transfer back and forth and it's ALOT less buggy than Melodyne.
I also find it more intuitive.

Definitely get Cubase 5, it's awesome.

Yeah, definitely do the upgrade to Cubase 5. I would only recommend Melodyne if you're wanting to do really in-depth, hardcore pitch/vocal editing. VariAudio can do all the basic pitch editing that needs to be done.

I don't have Cubase 5 but the Melodyne algorithm is off the chain. I don't know when Melodyne with Direct Note Access is coming out (or if it already is out) but I would by that software on the simple fact that the programmer was genius enough to figure out a way to edit CHORDS .

I WAS considering the cubase studio 5 upgrade but while doing a little more research I noticed that it comes with a pitch correction program different from VariAudio (the pitch editor like melodyne that comes in the full version of Cubase 5). The price for the studio 5 upgrade is 99 bux and compared to the melodyne uno editor($199) it seemed cheap but, no VariAudio in studio 5. for an extra $50 I might as well just save up and get the full cubase 5 upgrade($250).

...then again, I need a better mic. :P
