Hi, how much will I need to start up DJing Hardcore from scratch (no pun intended!), including enough vinyl to get me started, I'm not on a great deal of money so tips on where/how to get 2nd hand equipment etc would be helpful-& no jargon as I'll get confused & a headache! Thanx. Jon.

Sometimes you can find turntables on ebay for a good price. A few months ago I sold two technic sl1200's for $550.00. Also you can find some good deals on DJ in a box tables (two turntables, a mixer and headphones). Go to a search engine and type in retail turntables and you might find something in the UK.
Second hand records....also I'd recomend ebay, sometimes you can find someone selling a collection or a "lot" of records. It takes time to get a good collection going, so take your time and pick wisely as you have a limited supply of cash and don't want to buy records that you will not play.
Another solution is just buy records and find a friend who has tables, and just play on his/hers. That will also help you build up the ambition to save and get your own tables. If you buy a cheap pair of tables becareful becuase you might get discouraged because it is more difficult to play but in the long run it will make you a better DJ when you do get better tables.
A few things to look for when buying equipment is a DIRECT DRIVE motor on tables. Belt driven tables are junk and not worth the money. A simple mixer will do for now and will make you concentrate on your beat and phase matching. I hope that some of this info helps. If you need anymore help just ask. As you know everyone here is friendly and has great opinions, with great advice.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

get the best you can!!!!!
you want at least direct drive decks
if you can you could try getting second hand technics for around £500 $550
then a mixer. get a vca controlled crossfader, or the ones from vestax, it means you wont be replacing the crossfader every second, and in the long run will save you money.
if you are on a tight budget, the numark and stanton starter packs are great value for money, just remember though, get direct drive decks and get the best you possably can
