150 - 170 is a good average count for bpm. Some people like to play there records faster or slower.

i like it faster=) i'm usually pushing 180 or 185 bpm, but then again, a stop watch and a calculator aren't real accurate

with happy hardcore i tend to play around 185bpm, but i would guess that the overall average speed is about 180. i like to play gabber at about 195-220, new-style gabber at 175-180.

I don't think there IS an average speed. Most people who come into hardcore have come from trance and so like to start a bit slower in home territory. You'll probly find yourself listening to it faster and faster. My preference has to be at least 200 bpm cos i've grown into speed!!!

that hardly classifies as speedcore =P majority of most hhc written is within the 170-185 bpm, i've got a couple that go faster but not too many. spinning hhc @ 200 bpm just sounds wrong, usually it just sounds too fast for it's own good imo =P

how could there NOT be an average speed? as long as theres more then 1 point of measure, there's always an average between them.

of course there's an average speed. otherwise we'd have happycore written @ 150. and that just isn't right.
*off topic* but once one of my friends asked if i could play hard happycore
