Im thinking of buying a CD based set of decks complete with mixer, is this a better move than buying a Vinyl set?
Any pros and cons for both types?

I can't afford both it's one or the other...and surely CDs are the way forward, don't most modern DJs use CDs?

yeah if you can aford both go for it
if you cant, get vinyl first, as much as i prefer cd decks over vinyl (the simplicity)

get vinyl first because a) learn the skills easier

unless ur playing comercial stuff

Buying one first then another isn't really an option I will only be buying one...Im thinking I may aswell just go for the CD based decks cuz I'll probablly want a set of them eventually.

I used to play on CD decks and they were much fun indeed, but after I began on vinyl ... well, there's no going back. CD decks can never replicate the touch of wax - it's a more tactile experience. CD's just feel cold and distant in comparison.

yeah, i'm.. actually just collecting at the moment
but ppl ask when i tell em i ordered some vinyl and complain about how much i'm spending
"why vinyl?"
and other than just the fact alota this stuff comes out on vinyl, and that's just the way it is
vinyl has WAY more character than a cd ever will

Here is a test for you all:
Get 1 copy of a track on CD and another copy of the same track on vinyl.
Play the vinyl as loud as you can stand to listen on your stereo then do the exact same thing for the CD.
Your ears will be ringing after the CD I bet.
