Sorry, not sure if this is allowed here since it's hc related, but I needed to insert a link to ask my question. We're going to be playing a show with predominently hardcore bands. We consider ourselves more of a melodic medal, hardcore mix if anything. We will be playing with bands similar to http://www.myspace.com/burnthiscitymusic Our band has a singer and a screamer. From what I've heard via myspace lookups on other bands, we will be one of two, or possibly the only band with singing at ALL. We have one song of 8 up on our myspace. It's by far the "happiest" song and also the least technical. I can almost describe it as screamo. This is the song that scares me. Should we bother playing it? Will our similarly styled, but much heavier songs, go over well with the crowd? We're all pretty new to this. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks. This song- http://www.myspace.com/raisedandrazed

erm.

Either you've got the wrong hardcore...

Notice the banner at the top of your internet page

"HappyHardcore.com - The most popular hardcore dance music site in the world"

Or you meant to post this in music discussion - other genre.

Im not sure which.

Either way i think metal "hardcore" is crap. I dont see how someone yelling at the top of their lungs producing vocal noise is considered music. But thats my opinion. So really i have no idea whether you'd get boo'd at a metal hardcore show.... because id be booing them all anyway...

Yeah metal is crap. Bands that touch the boundaries are alright - like linkin park. The lead singer can yell like anyone else but **** can he sing! amazing voice. Talented group of men.

our hardcore is considered noise to a lot of people =P

the tune on your site is pretty decent. the main vocals seem a little off from the rest of the tune. like the guitar riffs

if you're worried about it though, I'd scrap it. but then again you never know because sometimes lighter songs can go over well. if you wind up playing it I'd go right into a heavier song right after it.

what's with the hate on metal?

besides, there is no metal hardcore. Hardcore in that scene is a punk derivaten not metal. And metalcore (hardcore punk with metal elements) is still more hardcore punk than metal, so if you guys are going to be hating, hate on punk, that shit's dead anyway ;p

and at OP: yeah, I think you got the wrong site for your kinda tunes. This hardcore of the electronic variety, not the punk stuff.
