i don't know what came over me, but i have the sudden urge to listen to euro that i remember from when i was muuuch younger.
the euro channel on DI fm sucks most of the time, and i'm wondering if anyone else listens to it here and could suggest a CD or mix that contains a lot of terrible older euro/freestyle?
cheers. someone else has to like euro around here

What kind of artists are you into? Because I listen to a lot of cheesy euro stuff, mainly Italodisco and Eurobeat, which is personally what I would recommend.

the problem is, i don't know many artists or track names for euro music.
i know lyrics and recognize so many tunes,
i'm looking for things similar to:
the original version of eye opener, "hey, if you're out in the cold... tonight..."
alexia - me and you
"love is paradise, cuz love multiplies"
"this is the rhythm of the night"
sorry i can't think of anything else at the moment, but those were big around here anyway when i was younger and i'm feeling nostalgic. anything from around that time period.... ish.
basically anything lame from the 90's that has "sha la la la la la's" and "na na na na na na's" and then a breakdown with some guy in the background doing horrible rapping.

So anything like:
2 Brothers From the 4th floor
Vengaboys
Alice deejay
Snap!
2 Unlimited
Eiffel 65
etc...
Problem is, its hard to find these songs all together on one CD. You're in Canada right? So I saw this CD series called "Euromix" from SPG Music. Earlier CDs have stuff from the mid 90's
http://www.amazon.com/Euromix-Greatest-Hits-Decade-Dance/dp/B000089R1J Or, there is a series called "Dancemania" from Japan. This has loads of Euro music on it as well, but you'd be better searching on Ebay or a Jap music site for that stuff. Hope that helps.

For eurodance i listen a lot of Discollection-Radio:
http://shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-playlist.pls?rn=4866&file=filename.pls But listening that and wanting to hear 90's eurodance, is like listening DI's Hardcore channel and wanting to listen old Happy Hardcore. Cant give any suggestions though, i mean i've listened eurodance more or less for the past ~14 years, but dont know any lame tunes :P In all seriousness, im at work ATM, will try to remember to write down some suggestions later when i get back home...

Still at work (its 21:30 here ), but about compilations, eurodance was and is sort of mainstream genre that many labels just add under pop dance. So its actually pretty hard to find compilations that only have Eurodance. There are many but their rather hard to find from the crap. The ones i have are Nordic releases so doubt you could find them. Instead i suggest finding the first (or first few) albums from following artists (I'll add a YouTube link to one of their songs):
EuroDance
DJ Bobo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM1kqGUQ8D0 Pharao http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7zAn8SW2Dc Imperio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drg4yOdZtvc Maxx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9ocLN4Dc3I Ice MC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JuUcnAM9AM Cappella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12VylDOTh2k E-Rotic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZN7KlJQqVc RedNex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddgyg_5FF_0 2 Unlimited http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzyFmilkd80 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9j8uBCpDpQ BubbleGum (eurodance's cheesy sister) Hit'n'Hide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=133KutDLcM8 Aqua http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Guqhnz4N38 Daze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yyGx2xeyIM SMiLE.dk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_qwUS8Uqjg Those are from the top of my head some of the most popular ones that i like, so probably forgot loads. If you really want compilations check the ones from the label Arcade. Also if you're buying albums/compilations remember that Eurodance over commercialized after 97-98 and became crap. So be sure to listen before buying older records that were released after about 97. ...and if you want to buy records, i usually buy from http://www.totalrecall.de (sells used records).

I collect a fair bit of eurodance, mainly Italian though.
I would have more but unfortunately some of the tunes are quite hard to find on vinyl...
