The side bars completely ruin the site for me.
The top header and menu bar look clean and well laid out. This then ruined when you see the side bars and the huge wall of text that is the home page.
Personally I would go with a link to a news page and something cleaner on the home page. If you must have the news on the front page ditch the adds on the side bars.

Think it looks pretty snazzy.
You should have a full page of the releases and recommended tracks though. They'll easily get ignored if they're stuck on the sides IMO.

Yo, chill. That means I'm taking your advice into account and that I hadn't thought about it before.

The images (ads) that are there atm are dummys untill i can get the actual ads up. So it should look better once i get the actual ads in place.
The latest news belongs on the homepage (imo) because that is what the user first looks at and can get up to date without digging through the website.
As for it looking like a wall of text... if there were images in there then it would be fine?
Its hard to have a website without much text.
The idea of having a seperate page for recommendations / releases isnt a bad idea at all. The only thing i can see being an issue is what would replace the content that moved to that page. Same goes for the home page if the news was moved.
Thanks for your comments so far, they are very much appreciated.
*Update*
We greyed out the sidebar font colour and in our eyes it is a large improvement. Now the text isnt as in your face as it once was.

It looks better than it did. IMO the new release and recommend stuff would be better placed on its own page but again it's just a personal preference. The news thing is really a personal preference on how you want your website to look.
Personally as its a new site i would have had the home page as something about the site and what you want it to achieve.

I'm on the work comp' but they still have about 2gig BB I think... Don't have a problem loading any other sites, put it that way.
*edit*
Just looking again and I'm not having a problem ATM. Perhaps something was up with it at the time.
