haha just had a look mate!
Lost all the boxes and instructions, haha! So does that mean the you still have the original disks? Or did they get lost to and now you only have your backed up copy on a dvd-r?
You do know that it is against copyright laws to sell the computer and keep the discs and/or have the program installed on your otehr machine!
Thats some funny sh*t! But unfortuantly you have more chance of me reporting the auction to ebay rather than me placing a bid:P

he was advertising a laptop that he has on ebay!
on this laptop there was £1000's worth of music software that has no box or instructions etc.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-PC-Notebook-Inc-Music-Production-Software_W0QQitemZ280144537944QQihZ018QQcategoryZ177QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. thats the link, i still think from reading the info in the auction the software ain't legit! But i got 2 PM's regarding this subject so i am happy, now i have a friend:)

The usual jump on the 'oh it must be illegal' bandwagon eh?
Might look a bit dodgy, but so would i if i sold my PC.
I have loads of paid for software on my computer that has no boxes, instructions or even the original discs! Anybody want to accuse me of being a liar?

thanks DJ DMS, yep, i have spent thousands on my dex, vinyl, software etc and bein a girl i have been a bit scatty at times and put things in a 'safe' place which turns out never to be seen again....
and as for bein hot, my better half seems to think so thats all that matters....
I jus love my hardcore and have done so for 16 yrs now and have ALWAYS supported the scene by 'buyin' my vinyl and software (even tho some of my fav tunes r not on vinyl but only available on mp3) and givin somethin back into the scene which has bought me so much happiness over the yrs.... and im sure will continue to do for many more yrs to come...

If there is no disc and no serial number then hell yeah i would say you were lying!
Only way i would say you were tell the truth would be if the software was purchased and downloaded online, but still i would be asking for you to forward the original email from the manufacturer that would include the details of the transaction and the serial number/activation code unless you could provide this i would not believe that the software was legit!
We all know how the internet is!
But i am not saying its wrong to do that (i know its illegal) the probelm i would have with that is expecting to get more cash just cause you have software! Without being able to prove that it is a legit copy.
After have a quick look at 1 website i can get,
ableton (and tutorial dvds)
sony acid
cubase
reason (and numerous refill packs)
logic
mixed in key
Traktor 3
Traktor DJ studio 3 (unsure if that is the same as above, will d/l later and find out )
Mixmeister Fusion Plus Video
Native Instruments Battery
Native Instruments Synthetic Drums
Native Instruments Kontakt
Native Instruments Komplete 4 (unsure what that is but there is 9 full DVD images)
I can't even think of anymore to search for off the top of my head:(
I am at my work now so couldn't do it now but if i was in my house i could have all that downloaded in a few hour (just been upgraded to a 20mb connection) i imagine all them would either come cracked, with a keygen, a backdoor patch or the serail will be in the nfo file attached to the report!
Infact scrap everything i have said, i have a PC with well over £3000 worth of software who wants to buy it? Offers pls[:P]

i hope there aint many people into that stuff, i guess it isnt as bad if they take the older stuff other than the new stuff with money being made from it, and especially since hardcore has little money, wed like to keep it alive and not fileshare. ithink everyone should agree on this

Only if you can prove you bought the software, and you didn't burgle somebody for the PC.

For software, discs, manuals etc are pretty much garbage. They dont mean anything, doesnt make the software legal etc. The only thing that matters are the serials, if they are legit then theres nothing wrong with it.
If you buy pro software you pay for the licence, not for the disc. If you have downloaded the software and think you have a working key, it can be traced. So i wouldnt suggest doing that, the fines you can get from software piracy are outrageous. They can make stable companys go bankrupt. Everyone can pirate software (...and on home use you probably dont get cought either), but it wount make any extra value for the laptop. Non pirated software however does.
Though i will add that i have fully legal Windows XP Home on my laptop. The greedy ****s at MicroSoft add OS's to laptops and dont provide the original CD or serial. Tough the licence is for the laptop only so the sticker on the bottom is the same as the serial in those cases.

As soon as there comes someone to check the legality of the software you're screwed. If you are not running a business, that most likely wouldnt happen though.
Anyway, id also add that not all software can be sold. E.g. if you buy AutoCAD, you buy it for a company/person. If you want to sell it, you will need permission from Autodesk.
