Darrren styles is hardcore, if other people want to remix his tunes into pop music and he can make some money from it it doesn't bother me. From a production standpoint all his songs are good, I don't particular care for some of them but only because I'm not into that style of music, I'm sure there are other people out there that are that will like it. I'll listen to his hardcore to which I like.
95_was_the_time: Calling people gay because they like a sort of music is pointless.

I don't know what you're getting at, Darren is the real deal, no it's not Thin n Crispy hardcore, Next Gen or Evolution hardcore, it's his own hardcore. You really need to goto a big event and watch the room explode when one of his tracks is played.

That same crowd was exploding to Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone a few years earlier... that same crowd clearly has no taste.
****ing sellouts are ****ing sellouts.
Vinylgroover, Slipmatt, Styles...
theres lots of em who moved where the money was only to come crawling back when hardcore got popular again.

Styles was one of the few mainstream hardcore DJ's who actually stayed with the scene when it 'died', how is that 'selling out' exactly?

It's amazing how fast people can forget all the stuff someone has done in the past and backstab them.

Just one thing i wouldnt call it backstabbing whispering mate. If you look through the replies quite a few say how much they respect styles and what he's doin, others sayin they hate it then a bit of abuse.
Personally i dont really care about a hardcore "scene" or who was producing music still in a couple years when there wasnt many raves on, at end of the day reason there wasnt many raves on is the majority of the music was terrible and nobody wanted to hear it.
So i dont really see it as backstabbing if i dont like someones tunes, jus personal tastes.
But aye it is gettin boring the amount of these threads goin up

Hahahaha quality description and i agree, is the way so many tunes sound so similar in terms of synths and samples and effects used which made me get bored of uk and mainstream dutch hardcore.
Always nice to hear music made by people with wide range of tastes making rave music, more mashed up the better a lot of the time. Always really respected Luna C for that.
Just when the other styles there bringin is pop music, eurodance, scouse house or whatever i think i'll pass thanks

Nick Arnold did a piano version of Lost in Space, it was fantastic. Doesnt mean anything. If someone wants to do other styles, whats the harm? Thats the main problem with UK and Dutch Hardcore, inbreeding.
I never said it was bad, infact i actually enjoyed it with out the thud thud thud of a kick it was actually nice to listen to.

I agree with Silver on this actually, tho i say i hate most of his tracks in actuall fact i just hate how repeptative they are from beeing over played, no doubt Darren styles has set the stand point for a new kind of hardcore that seems to be kicking on to the main stream in full effect but how long will it be till he is repeated over and over like so many other main stream tittles today?

I've never thought a Darren Styles track was poorly produced, I think a lot of his tracks are awesome...
His remix of Silver Water is one of my current faves....
Although, some of his tracks I find boring, doesn't mean he isn't a hardcore artist. I agree with Silver.
Only problem I have with him is his mixes on Clubland X-Treme Hardcore, they pale in comparison to Breeze's mixing. Styles' mixes usually bore me to tears.
At any rate, his songs sound awesome pitched up at 180+ BPM...:P

Haha... this topic is bollocks! and funny... simply cuse if you asked ME this last year... i would of been "bitching" just the same!
But you know what a good old year on happyhardcore.com teachs you!...
...That... Sometimes you ALL need to sit back and stop being such a "TWAT" YOUSELF!!!
...FFS... STFU!!! The guy is making money from what he loves!
If you was in his shoes you'd be loving it!
Now his stuff really isn't my taste... nor do i really think its hardcore...
but at the same time i don't disrespect his talent (which he has got!)

I find it interesting that it's only now, after he's gained mainstream success that people are bitching about his hardcore sound. Even though imho his style (no pun intended) hasn't changed for around 4 years now. I can still remember back in '03 when everyone was raving about how awesome his new tracks were...
