Are the gemini ones belt drive as well? If they're direct drive then get them otherwise he'll have to totally re-learn to mix when he upgrades. I know from experience.

Would Tommy Kirkwood, and Lynne come to the surge tent out front immediately, this is proper urgent.

going from belt to direct is nowhere near as hard as going from direct to belt

I Would Say The Stantons.. I Dont Rate Gemini At All .. They Make Good Mixers, But There Decks Are Jus Average.. Unlesss Your Spendin A Few Hundred Per Deck.

My Mate Has A Set Of xp100's And They Drift Like Fook !!

I Think That Stanton is The One With The Sraight Tone Arm Innit ??
If So I Wud Go For Dat Cuz If you Slam A Good Set Of Needles On Em you Can Scrtch to Yopur Hearts Content With Virtually No Jumping !

Personally tho I Wud Say Save And Get Directs.. Better To Learn On Them , Cuz It Is Hard As fook To Mix On Directs If You Learn On Belt Drives !!
And, Directs Are More Popular Nowadays Anyhow ! So If You Get A Slot Anywhere Chances Are You Will B Mixin On Directs.. An Yer Dont Wann Fluff It Up Do Ya !!

All I can say is get some TT's with a steady platter, the XL-100's are sh*t, you don't want them. I would suggest saving a little more money and getting direct drives instead. Get some that are similar to the 1200's (I've noticed a trend in raves that they don't use any Vestax or Stanton turntables). You can get really good 2nd Hand stuff on ebay, ask your parents if you can use their credit card. I would go with Gemini Direct Drives (since I have PT-2000's) instead of both those you listed. Try out the XL-500II's, I heard they have a little less torque then 1200's and PT-2000's, but I think they'll suit you just fine.

(Why can't I think up a fkn signature!!!!!!)

Directs Are Definately Better.. A Lot Less Driftin, And They Stand A Lot More Hammer.
Belts Are A Cheap Alternative Tho.

Kant See Em Been Discontinued Miself.. but They Could Do To Bring The Price Of Directs Down To Make Em More Apealing !
