Yep Finally Moving Up in the world to a better interface!
...Its funny, a few weeks ago I was finally getting my head down and starting to work towards recording and getting tracks finished, aswell as talking to a few labels who are interested in hearing my stuff!...
But then I figured... MAN! I've still got SHED LOADS to learn!
It seams to be a never ending battle, Just as I feel comfortable with my music tech knowledge, I come across new things and get dishearten thinking "narrr, I’ve still got a long way to go!"
Anyways... as I'm now going to be spending time reading up on stuff, learning and basically just gaining experience through trial & error (just f*cking about) with cubase! There’s a few things I need to know and little things I need help with…
1. Plugins... There’s certain VST's and FX's I used in FL that I can't use in cubase... is there any way around this... stuff like "FL Keys", "FPC", "Plucked" won't load into cubase - is there anyway around this?
(I don’t want to have to spend money on new VST's)
2. Soundfont players - has cubase got one, the FL one doesn't seam to work with cubase
(again, more money I DON'T want to spend!)
3. How do you automate in cubase?
4. Anyone know any references on the net - tutorials (preferably video!) samples and/or free vsts (that work with cubase) ect
Cheers for any help guys (means alot )

1. Install your VSTs into the VST directory, and they will load when you start the program. However, if it's FL specific, you're kind of screwed (though cubase can use all vsts)
2. I've been able to load sound fonts into Halion - check that one out.
3. Open up the parameter in the sequencer page, click R so it's green (Read), then draw in your automation. Or click the w and write it in as it plays by tweaking the knobs on you rVST/keyboard so it writes the midi for you.
4. There are tons - steinburg should have the manuals up for it. also ush has a cubase thread last time i was there. best bet is to find cubase forums, and read/search through them for what you're looking for.
Lots of free plugins online - again, those forums will be your best friend. I've been enjoying the betabugz filters myself lately!

I got cubase after I had been using reason for a while, and while cubase can do loads that reason can't, I had just got set in my ways and found it really hard to use cubase as a main sequencer. I can use it but just not as quick and easy as I can reason.
I wish you luck, cos' it really takes some learning.
