When writing melodys...
Start off with a mid note base... and Write the first thing that comes into your head... try and make this a bit complecated As is the main melody that will sell the track...
Once you have that down... write other melodys higher noted and lower noted... (Keep these fairly simple though)
Then once you wirte loads that all go well together when turned on and off! Copy the midi to diffrent snyths and sounds...
The higher noted melodys should most likly be used for FX's and stuff
The lower noted melodys would be best used for Drones, Pads & Arps!
Or lower octs for stuff like strumming gutiers!
Then, When it comes to your lead... Rewrite the main melody to make it more "simple" - after all "simple sells" and your lead wants to be fairly simple as otherwise you won't be able to dance to it! and it will spoil the track!
Its also a good idea to fill your lead out a little with a backing arp or gate layered underneath it (not as load)
Then the higher noted melodys (The FX's!) can kick in for your 2nd part of the lead, to add spice to the flow! and to fill the track out more!
I shouldn't really be saying all that as I'm giving away my style lol
but what the hell... give it a go... and Once mastered you'll be producing some top notch stuff

sounds a lot like Antix's style to me :P
but yeah that looks like a pretty recipe for tunes to me :P
what sorta sound are u going for with the track?
like, name another song or an artist who's tracks hav the same "feel" u want from urs. then just emulate them :P
and even tho i dont yet produce, i'm told the key to a good synth is DETUNING! :D

Heh a technique I worked out after realising all my songs were using the same basic chord progression is to (you need a keyboard) close your eyes and press a random key, and repeat. There's your new chord progression, make a melody that links them! Chances are it'll sound crappy at first, but keep at it and you'll end up with an awesome unique melody to set the song apart from the rest. Sk8SiM your technique is pretty good too I should try that at sometime...
