It depends on the volumes and frequencies everything is at already. there really is no magic number or formula for it, you just need to listen to what you want it to sound like and compare it to what you sound like and try to pull out the differences

dont use the EQs just for the sake of it, if you dont know what you're doin i wouldny reccommend messing about with them too much.
defo dont turn the bass knob right down on the track ur mixing in, half way should give u enough room to blend the tune in.
live bad mixing happens, a lot of the time u get punters askin u to play certain tunes that u cant find or something will happen that makes ur beatmatching bit sloppy most of the time it will go unnoticed.
booze is murder aswell sometimes, last time I dj'ed it was my 21st and I was too pissed to hold a mix for more than 10 seconds.
