I would like to know which is better for djing hardcore, are CD decks or Vinyl decks. i need to kno because i am about to purchase one or the other so i can begin to practise hardcore. plz reply....

What ever is best for you.... What do you enjoy playing on more? I use turntables mysself and don't ever want to make a conversion to cds. But thats just me!

id imagine the best one would be wich ever U personaly can DJ best with.
if ur just starting out, then CDs are evidently going to be easyer than vinyl and cheaper.
however if ur ever wanting to sctratch and are having delusions of gradure in the HardCore scene, get vinyl, and with crap loads of time and effort, those delusions might not be so delusional :D (thats what im doing at least lol)

Ok the questain is do you jsut DJ or do you produce your own beats.If your jsut a regular DJ I always like turntables myself.If you produce I would jsut go with the CDJ thing.

Best to have access to both IMO. There are tunes that are exclusive to digital and tunes that are vinyl exclusives.
Your financial situation may be factor to consider as well. DJ'ing with CD's is much more cost effective.

imo turntables always win, but the main factor to think about is £££
the only CD decks worth buying are at least £600 each where as you could get technics, vestax or the top of the range stanton turntables for approx. £350 each
also imo i think turntables are alot easier to mix on this could be because thats what i learned on, i can use CD decks no problem now but vinyl is where its at
djnateking asks if you produce, well if you do i'd still advise buying turntables, with the cash you save buying turntables just buy final scratch or scratch live

music is music, the format shouldn't decide (?) how it should be listened to.
Personally, I dont give a flyin fcuk about the format its 'pressed' onto, as long as it's good, and worth the money.
I, the person typing i hope, are going to keep on mixing with Software, as long as people like to listen to my mixes, and they themself dont give a flyin fcuk about what I mixed them on (as long as the tracks I use are legal, people shoulkd give a fcuk either :P )

I would go the vinyl to start off with :)
1. Support the UK Happy Hardcore scene.
2. You will get the clear and crispy sound of analog sound
3. Analog sounds "warmer" compareed to digital
I do prefer both Analog and Digital in the way of technology :D

Erm...I buy mp3's and vinyl, but mostly mp3's, and is that not supporting the scene? Vinyl isn't the only way to support the scene.
Clear and crispy...never mind. I don't feel like discussing this. Blah.
Vinyl is nice, but you can still DJ Hardcore with CD's or with software like Samination and I do.

Imo you got to have either tables or cdj to dj!! using some of these programs on the pc aint even close, even with ableton live you can do some amazing stuff but it aint really dj'ing
The only software i have ever used for mixing has been ableton live and with that you don't even have to beat match it does it absolutley perfect for you
Therefore there aint no skill involved in that what so ever, i know you can remix on the fly whilst doing your mix but still it aint really mixing. Its cheating!!!!!!!!!!
Would you be happy to pay for a ticket for a event only to find brisk, scott brown or whoever just sitting behind a laptop or pc, cause i know i wouldn't!!!
basically in my opion until you can spin either vinyl or cd's you aint a real dj!!!

really i am SO SICK of this debate. There isnt one that is better or worse, they are just different and everyone has their own opinion.
I mean I dont really care how the mix comes about, as long as the final product is polished (except in the circumstances where people sit down and manually edit the files so much so they sound perfect)
Just everyone uses different stuff, you cant ask people what to use becuase everyone is different.
Go out try it for yourself and make a choice. Its whats better for YOU not what the majority thinks.
(please no more vinyl cd threads im going mildly insane)

^^^^i agree no more vinyl - cd debate, but software ain't proper dj'ing and thats the point i was trying to make
software is only acceptable if it is getting incorparated in to a setup that has either cdj or turntables imo

well i've never heard of anything like ableton, but does it really beatmatch that perfectly?
I have shitload of problems with some tracks (especialyl my vinyl ripps) when it comes to beat match, so that MEANS I need to twaek the tracks, ON-THE-fcuking-FLY, so it's not always a walk in the park ok?
btw, I use Virtual DJ, and I got a console so I can mix somwhat real, if you dirty beggers like that better.......

Ableton live does all the beat matching for you!!
Its a bit much getting your haed round it at first but once you get to grips with it you'll pull of some great stuff, as it does the beat matching for you, you can spend all your time remixing on the fly, cue up another track - 3 deck mixing no problem.
All i was saying in my earlier post was that in a club enviroment it aint right if the dj doesn't use turntables or cdj's
www.ableton.com it retails for about £200 but if you really want it i'm sure you'll find it, cause it didn't cost me that
