What i don't understand is why obviously knowledgable people about this genre constantly reproduce this really antagonistic, and frankly quite unbecoming, type of correspondance with other users who have just made a mistake. Oh no !!! they got the name of the writer and or producer for this particular ( certianly no longer underground) rave track. It's extraordinarily upsetting and I'm surprised why people would even seek other's advice. Simply telling them " the correct creator is ..." would suffice.. do we really need to call someone a tw*t ? or say do not collect 200 dollars, do not pass go ?
If you'll remeber, the vast majority of excellent HHC is a direct result of bootleg editions, rip offs, and the popularity thereof. If Vibes didn't get the rights to Zoe' s Tekkno Wonderland, and re publish it EXACTLY, as Raver's Choice with Steve Smeeth - Techno Wonderland... well, what we would have ?? You know what , Vibes did this, pulled a fast one on people for many years, and no one told him to not pass GO. Hixxy's Spaceman , right? it's a complete rip off of Raveman on the italian label D-Boy Black,.. and you know what? it's totally okay, it's supposed to be counter culture and challenging the narratives of liberal late-capitalism through a sense of heightened emotional escapism. Not some weird elitist group of people ragging on others for not knowing as much as them about a genre and scene that is supposed to be about acceptance and inclusivity... goodness.
I could certainly say that anyone who listen's to so called HHC after 2000 also shouldn't pass Go, shouldn't collect 200 $ and yell EPIC FAIL from on high.... But I don't, it's not my taste, I'm a pre 2000 guy, but I would never call someone a Tw*T for it. as an example, maybe the person was part of the Napster generation and was convinced that Dune's Can't stop Raving was by an artist named DJ Liquid.. Anyone remeber this ??/ went on for years. don't remeber any Monopoly references, or Tw*t calling.
Please, to those of you who are the new "intelligentsia and vanguard" of this music.. don't be rude to people who have made a mistake about the name of an HHC producer.. really REALLY killing the PLUR. and all three of you I* know to be quite lovely and helpful people. in fact you've probably helped me in the past many times too. I still remember Silver saving the HHC tent at an early 2000's WEMF and came and did a set for us Canadians. lovely stuff and a huge thank you for all of it.
