Since most people using Decks or CD turntables, I was just wondering what people use when running off a laptop or PC. I use PCDJ FX. What do you guys find the most confortable to use out of the three mediums.

I've recently started using Traktor to DJ with. Haven't done any Hardcore with it yet, but I've been putting together a mashup pop/rock/house/hip hop/breaks/whatever (actually I did include one hardcore track in there thinking about it!) for a friend (I need to finish it this weekend/early next week so I shall post it up once its done).
I purely run it as a group of CD decks. All the controls I have mapped to the keyboard so I can control pitch, pitch bend etc etc without looking at the screen. Its all routed through multi-outs through to my mixer, and all mixing itself is done externally in a 4 channel mixer. Must admit I really enjoy using it - its nice being able to drop whatever files I want in there, and its nice being able to control it all away from the screen - the only screen use it gets is browsing for tracks.
I'm not over keen on the browser arrangements, but I'm sure I could probably set that side of things up better!

yeah, traktor is the best in my opinion as far as software goes. I used to use it before i got decks with an external mixer. I bought a mixer because I wanted to start building up gear but at the time I didnt have enough money for the tables.

I got tracktor last night. Just takes a little while to get used to but the overal features are much better that PCDJ as well as the clean text and interface. I'm going to learn this and proberly use it from now on.
Thanks!

Then turn off your monitor!

I use Serato Scratch Live so i can scratch my MP3s, do looping etc etc with my turntables. Basically it's a program that reads timecoded vinyl. Just like Final Scratch and how it works with Traktor.

Any more details? What type of file? (wav, mp3 etc) What bitrate/sampling frequency? Do the files play ok in winamp/WMP? Can you let us know the part of the error message you can see?

That little bar at the bottom is a slider so you can use it to view the rest of the message :-)

Ah yes thanks, didn't notice that. It says I couldn't play it because its not supported or its corrupt. I have a feeling that its because its varible bitrate.

Yeah, I don't think it supports variable bitrate (would be a nightmare on the processor trying to pitch shift it!).
